Creating AI-Generated 4×6 prints with a Halloween Twist in Darkroom Booth
In his latest tutorial, Darkroom Software’s Director of Customer Success, Eugene, continues where we left off in the previous video — creating fun, cinematic AI-generated movie posters in Darkroom Booth. If you missed that first walkthrough, be sure to check it out here for the starter templates before diving in.
This time, Eugene shows how to take those templates and give them a spooky update, perfect for your Halloween or themed photo booth events.
Step 1: Starting Fresh with a New Event
Eugene begins by opening the original AI Movie Poster event and creating a new event so none of the existing settings are changed. He names the new one Monster Bash 2025.
In this example, the existing screen template includes a zombie, a witch, and a pilot — but for Halloween, the pilot doesn’t quite fit. Time to swap that one for a vampire!
Step 2: Updating the Screen Template
Eugene opens the screen editor, replaces the pilot image with his pre-made vampire graphic, and then saves it under a new name — Monster Bash 2025.
When prompted, he selects “Keep current settings” so the event keeps all its working configurations. The vampire now appears in the lineup, ready for guests to choose at the booth.
Step 3: Adding the AI Vampire Template 🧛♂️
Next, it’s time to update the print templates. All of these are being resized to 4×6 prints for compatibility with standard media, though you can stick with 6×8 if preferred.
Eugene creates a new template named 4x6_vamp and updates the AI prompt to describe the vampire’s look:
“Cinematic photorealistic portrait of a pale vampire with an intense stare, wearing a black cape with red lining and the collar up.”
He then adds the vampire artwork, fits it to the entire page, and saves the template. The same resizing and naming process is repeated for the witch and zombie templates — 4x6_witch and 4x6_zombie — ensuring consistency across all designs.
Step 4: Configuring the Print Alternate Options
Now that the templates are ready, Eugene moves to the Print Alternate settings.
He assigns:
- Alternate 1 → Witch
- Alternate 2 → Zombie
- Alternate 3 → Vampire
This order matches the booth screen’s button commands, so each character selection triggers the correct template.
He also updates the on-screen text so the buttons read “Print” instead of “Mini Poster,” keeping things clean and intuitive for guests.
Step 5: Testing It Out
With everything saved, Eugene starts up the booth to test the new setup. He selects the vampire option and lets Darkroom Booth’s AI generate the new image.
After a short processing pause while the image uploads and returns from the server, the result appears — a striking, cinematic vampire portrait, ready to print.
The workflow works seamlessly, producing AI-generated themed posters that guests will love at your next Halloween party or costume event.
Wrap-Up
This video builds perfectly on the original AI Movie Poster tutorial, showing how easily you can customize templates and prompts to fit seasonal or event-specific themes.
Whether it’s Monster Bash, a holiday party, or any creative activation, you can adapt these same steps to build dynamic, AI-enhanced photo booth experiences that stand out.
