Meet Joel Miller, owner of Button It Up Photo Booths in Atlanta Georgia.
Tell me about your business
We are the original photo booth company in Atlanta operating for over 35 years. We started making photo buttons at bar mitzvahs and now we have 15 different services. As a result, we have acquired dozens of loyal clients and partners in the industry that provide us with a large chunk of our business. We pride ourselves on being a one-stop shop. No one wants to have 5 photo booth vendors, so we make sure we offer whatever services our clients might want.
We also pride ourselves on being the easiest company to work with. Our clients are often planning massive events and they need to focus their energy on catering, décor, logistics, etc., so we try to make it easy for them. That means being responsive, organized and staying one step ahead of them. Our clients really appreciate this.
What makes you unique?
I created my own Mirror Room that I’m very proud of. We’ve sold it at least a dozen times for several thousand dollars per event. We use Darkroom Booth to take stills and Burst GIFs. Guests love it!
What are your thoughts about the photo booth business in 2022?
The photo booth business seems to have matured quite a bit. The software available is robust and can do anything you can imagine. We seem to be running out of new gimmicks, so the innovation will come from how operators use their software. Another thing I’ve noticed is how important photographs have become to events. We often provide multiple stations, even for smaller events. Sometimes the event is just one large photo op with multiple stations.
How has working with Imaging Spectrum and Darkroom Software affected your business?
Since our focus is on-site printing, we love Darkroom Software, specifically the native integration with DNP printers. Printing issues are always the #1 problem at an event, but with Darkroom, we rarely have any. This makes it so much easier for our staff at events and has enabled us to scale and do several events simultaneously. And as we have grown, Imaging Spectrum has been a great partner. No other supplier treats us better!
