This article contains information on setting up your Darkroom computers for a network environment.

Procedure

1. On the server computer right click on my computer and click on properties

2. Click on the tab called computer name and note the full computer name and the workgroup/domain name. Click okay to dismiss these windows.

3. Now Browse to your Photos folder (default location is C:ProgramFiles/ExpressDigital/Darkroom Pro/Photos or AE). In the menu bar, select Tools -> Folder Options -> go to View and scroll to the bottom of the list. Make sure “Use Simple File Sharing” is unchecked.

4. Right-click on the Photos folder and select “Sharing and Security.”

5. Click on share this folder and give it a share name of Photos.

6. Click on the permissions button.

7. In the share permissions window please add a group or user called everyone (note: there could be a group or user called everyone already created).

8. Click on the user everyone and then check on the box bellow that allows full control. Hit apply and then okay.

9.Now go into the Security tab and add a group or user called everyone (note: there could be a group or user called everyone already created).

10. Click on the user everyone and then check on the box bellow that allows full comtro. Hit apply and then okay.

11. Dismiss all windows and start up Darkroom Pro/AE in Server Mode (Setup -> Network Options)

12. Now go to the client machine and right click on my computer, click on properties, and then go into the tab called Computer Name. Make sure that your client machine is on the same workgroup/domain name as your server.

13. Now startup Darkroom Pro, AE or Core on the client machine. Go to Setup -> Network Options. Set this to “Client Computer” and manually specify the server name (example: \servername this is the full computer name of the server computer)

14. Go to Photo Library and verify you see all the catalogs housed on the server computer.
